Jammu & Kashmir: Indian Army has thwarted an infiltration bid at the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. On the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, Army personnel killed at least two terrorists during an anti-infiltration operation conducted in the Nowshera sector.
According to official sources, the operation was launched following intelligence inputs from both the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The White Knight Corps (16 Corps) reported via X: “Based on intelligence from @JmuKmrPolice and other agencies regarding a likely infiltration attempt, an anti-infiltration operation was initiated on the night of 08-09 September 2024 in the general area of Lam, Nowshera.”
During the operation, security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms, including two AK-47 rifles and a pistol, from the terrorists.
As of now, a search operation is ongoing to ensure that no other threats remain in the area. This infiltration attempt comes just days before Jammu and Kashmir is set to vote for a new assembly, with elections scheduled to be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1. The results of the election will be announced on October 4.
