Bokaro: The 21st Bokaro Open Basketball Championship commenced on Monday at the Janvrit 12 basketball court in Bokaro, featuring around 30 teams from the region. The competition includes categories for Under-14 boys and girls, kids, and senior teams, with all matches played in a league format.
Competition coordinator Sanjeev Singh shared that the primary goal of the event is to promote the talent of young players, update them on new basketball rules, and bring together both experienced and new participants. The championship has been successfully organized at its scheduled time for 21 years, with enthusiastic participation from all players.
During the tournament, players from the Under-14 to Under-16 categories will be selected based on their performances and given training for upcoming competitions. The senior boys’ teams include Bihari Brothers, Bokaro Partners, and Mahakal Bowlers, while junior boys’ teams feature The Warriors, Ground Breakers, and Shoot Out Bowlers.
Girls’ teams include Defending Bowlers, The Warriors, and The Hackers, with close matches, such as the girls’ game where The Hackers narrowly lost to The Warriors 13-14.
In addition to the matches, many key figures contributed to the successful organization of the event, including Ram Lakhan Mistry, Sudhir Kumar, and senior players like Kunal Singh and Neeraj Kumar. Ram Narayan Pandit, Dharmendra Kumar, Vijay Minj, and Shashi Singh also extended their best wishes for the competition’s success.
