Mumbai: Riya Barde, a Bangladeshi porn star also known as Arohi Barde, was arrested by Maharashtra police for allegedly residing in India using fake documents. She was produced in court where a team of seven advocates represented her.
During the proceedings, the defense team questioned the police about the evidence supporting claims that Riya is Bangladeshi.
They argued that her arrest and detention without solid proof were unlawful. After an hour and a half of debate, the judge ordered Riya to remain in the custody of Thane Police until October 1, 2024.
Riya’s arrest follows a police tip-off regarding a Bangladeshi family living in Ambernath with forged documents. The Hill Line Police in Ulhasnagar took her into custody, uncovering that a resident of Amravati had allegedly helped create fake passports for Riya and three associates to facilitate their illegal stay in India. A case has since been registered against Riya and four others involved in the scheme.
