The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) cancelled the result of Class XII topper in the Arts stream Ganesh Kumar and arrested him for committing forgery, among other charges, official said.
“Ganesh has been charged for hiding his real age and appearing in the examination by giving fake date of birth”, said Anand Kishore BSEB Chairman. “Preliminary investigations reveals that Ganesh had not mentioned his real age in the examination form; He has deceived the board, his real age is 42 but he has mentioned 24 years in the examination form. He is also the father of two children”, said Chairman adding “The board had cancelled his result and lodged a FIR against him”.
Later Ganesh was taken into custody late in the evening, police said.
The developments followed protests by students in front of the Bihar Intermediate Education Council office here against alleged discrepancies in the results.
Ganesh scored 82.6% marks in music, appeared clueless about basic musical notes, when questioned by the media. Neither could he answer questions relating to the Hindi paper, in which he had got 92%. Hailing from Giridih district of Jharkhand, he had come to Samastipur and appeared for the examination at the Ramnandan Singh Jagdeep Narayan Higher Secondary School.
Last year, Rubi Rai, the class 12 humanities topper, who was accused of cheating in board exam, was arrested by Police today as she failed to answer questions in a re-exam conducted by an expert committee of the Bihar School Examination Board. She had scored 444 out of 500 marks in the Class 12 exam with arts stream, however, while replying to a question of Aaj Tak, the topper said, ‘Political Science is all about cooking’, and pronounced ‘Political Science’ as ‘Prodigal Science’.
This time, Ganesh the topper in humanities, stumbled over queries posed by the media on music, in which he scored 65 out of 70 in practicals.
