JNS: India has contributed $1 million to the Poverty and Hunger Alleviation Fund established by India, Brazil, and South Africa (IBSA). The fund, aimed at alleviating poverty and hunger, received the contribution yesterday.
Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, handed over the cheque to Dima Al-Khatib, the Director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).
Kamboj expressed India’s commitment to supporting the IBSA Fund, highlighting its positive impact on millions of lives across the Global South and its role in strengthening the spirit of South-South cooperation.
She further noted that India’s focus during its G20 Presidency was on developing policies for the people, by the people, and for the people.
The IBSA Facility for Poverty and Hunger Alleviation (IBSA Fund) was jointly established in March 2004 and became operational in 2006. The fund aims to identify replicable and scalable projects that can be disseminated to developing countries based on demand.
Projects supported by the IBSA Fund assist partner countries in the Global South in achieving their national priorities and internationally agreed development goals.
