Dhanbad: The Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad’s Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering has commenced a five-day Executive Development Programme (EDP) tailored for Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) executives. The programme, titled “Certificate Programme on Project and Financial Management with MS Project and Simulation Software for Executives of CCL,” began today at the Management Training Centre (MTC) in Ranchi.
The inaugural session was graced by notable figures including Harish Duhan, Director (Technical-Operations) at CCL, Ranchi; R.K. Pandey, GM (HRD), CCL; and Professors Rashmi Singh and Niladri Das, who are the coordinators of the programme.
Addressing the attendees, Harish Duhan emphasised the critical role of effective project and financial management in enhancing productivity and operational efficiency within the coal mining sector. He highlighted how such skills are pivotal to advancing the sector’s overall performance.
Pandey elaborated on CCL’s ongoing training initiatives, underscoring the importance of project and financial management in boosting the company’s profitability. He stressed that well-rounded training programs are essential for achieving financial and operational success.
Professor Rashmi Singh discussed the importance of integrating state-of-the-art software, such as MS Project and simulation tools, into project and financial management practices. She noted that such programs are vital for improving efficiency in the coal mining sector, which is crucial for national energy security. Prof. Singh emphasized that ongoing training and exposure to the latest technological advancements are necessary for optimal management of coal mining projects.
The EDP is designed to provide CCL executives, including Assistant Managers, Deputy Managers, Managers, Senior Managers, and Chief Managers across various departments such as Project and Planning, Mining, E&M, Excavation, Contracts Management, and Finance, with practical insights into modern project and financial management techniques. Participants will engage in sessions covering risk management through simulation software, project planning and scheduling using MS Project, strategic financial management, cost issues, and capital budgeting, among other critical topics.
The programme will also address supply chain and logistic issues in coal mining, sustainability concerns, and leadership and motivational strategies relevant to the sector.
Professor Niladri Das expressed gratitude to the participants and CCL for their support in facilitating the programme. He also extended thanks to Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD of CCL, for his significant role in organizing the event.
The EDP is expected to enhance the managerial capabilities of CCL’s workforce, equipping them with cutting-edge skills necessary for effective project management and financial oversight in the coal mining industry.
