Express Train Derails After Collision with Goods Train in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Six coaches of the Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express derailed after colliding with a stationary goods train in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM near Kavaraipettai, close to Chennai.

Reports indicate that at least two coaches caught fire, leading to injuries for ten passengers, who have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, there have been no reported fatalities.

Emergency response teams from both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been dispatched to the scene, along with ambulances to assist the injured.

Witnesses reported that the express train experienced a sudden jerk, causing it to enter a loop line where it subsequently collided with the stationary goods rake.
