New Delhi: In a move to foster unity and celebrate shared history, India has extended invitations to neighboring countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh, to participate in a special seminar marking 150 years of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The seminar, organized by the Indian government, aims to set aside regional differences and commemorate the subcontinent’s collective heritage.
The government has sent invitations to various nations, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, as well as officials from the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southwest Asia. While Pakistan has confirmed its participation, Bangladesh has yet to respond, according to media reports.
The event is being supported by multiple ministries. To commemorate the milestone, the Finance Ministry has announced the release of a special Rs 150 commemorative coin. Additionally, the Home Ministry has approved a special tableau for the Republic Day parade, celebrating 150 years of the India Meteorological Department.
This initiative reflects India’s effort to promote a sense of shared history and cooperation across the region.
