Donald Trump Sworn in as 47th U.S. President for Second Term

Washington, DC: Republican Donald J. Trump took the oath as the 47th President of the United States for a second term on Monday at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, following Chief Justice’s administration of the oath. Alongside him, Republican JD Vance was sworn in as Vice President.

The swearing-in ceremony, initially scheduled outdoors, was moved inside due to severe weather, marking the first such change since Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration 40 years ago. The event, also the coldest inauguration in decades, saw Trump and Vance accompanied by their wives, Melania Trump and Usha Vance.

In his inaugural address, President Trump outlined plans for his next four years in office. Afterward, he met with outgoing President Joe Biden, who followed tradition by leaving a note for his successor, though its contents remain undisclosed.

Trump’s return to the White House marks only the second time in U.S. history a president has reclaimed the office after losing an election, following Grover Cleveland in 1893. Trump, at 77, becomes the oldest U.S. President.

Trump’s administration promises sweeping changes, with plans to sign over 100 executive orders on day one, including reversing many of Biden’s policies and enacting conservative reforms.

His return to power, aided by Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, signals a new political era, though concerns persist over his previous term’s controversial policies.
