TTD urges Centre to declare Tirumala temple a no-fly zone to preserve sanctity

AP: In a move aimed at protecting the sanctity of the Tirumala Temple, also known as the Venkateshwara Shrine, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman, BR Naidu, has written to Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, urging the government to designate the temple’s vicinity as a no-fly zone.

In his letter, Naidu highlighted the importance of preserving the spiritual environment around the sacred site, in line with the principles of Agama Shastra, which guide the construction and worship at Hindu temples. Naidu expressed concerns over the disturbance caused by low-flying planes, helicopters, and other aerial activities, which could disrupt the tranquility sought by millions of devotees visiting the temple.

“The Tirumala temple holds immense spiritual significance for millions of people,” Naidu wrote. “According to Agama regulations, the sanctity of the temple is paramount, and any disruption, including aerial movements, is believed to negatively impact the sacred atmosphere.”

Naidu proposed that declaring the area a no-fly zone would help prevent unauthorized aerial activities and ensure that the peace and devotion of pilgrims are not disturbed. He called on the Union Minister to take swift action to preserve the temple’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
