Bokaro: Four students of Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro have once again showcased their exceptional scientific prowess and made their alma mater proud. The young prodigies proved their mettle in the Inspire Manak Award Scheme, run by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to nurture creativity and scientific innovation among school students. The students who brought laurel in the session 2024-25 to the school include Shreshta Chaturvedi (Class VII), Ayushi Sharma (Class VIII), Aarush Priyadarshi (Class IX) and Krish Verma (Class X). Besides receiving a Certificate of Award, each of the selected students will receive a grant of Rs. 10,000 to further develop their innovative projects. This financial support will enable them to refine their ideas, conduct research, and create prototypes that could contribute significantly to the field of science and technology for the District Level Exhibition and Project Competition (DLEPC).
Shreshta Chaturvedi has developed a Web/Mobile-based Water Mapping Monitoring System using satellite technology. This system will help track water resources besides detecting water scarcity. Ayushi Sharma has worked on reducing road accidents caused by drivers falling asleep while driving with her project, ‘Drishti Deepak – Anti-Sleep Glasses while Driving’. It operates through sensors that detect the driver’s blinking pattern. Notably, Ayushi was earlier selected for the Inspire Manak Award for her biometric-based sanitary pad dispenser project for school girls.
Aarush Priyadarshi has prepared a project on a foldable umbrella designed to protect two-wheeler riders from rain and sun whereas Krish Verma has developed a special headband for visually impaired individuals. This headband provides real-time information about obstacles, their distance, shape and height through a small speaker in the wearer’s ear.
The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) – Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge (MANAK) Award Scheme is an initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Under this scheme, students can submit new and creative ideas. Based on feasibility, social utility, environmental adaptability, novelty and technological advancement, selected students receive financial support for developing their scientific models and inventions.
It’s worth mentioning here that for the last four consecutive years, DPS Bokaro students have been selected for the Inspire Manak Award. Rupesh Kumar, an alumnus has been recently selected for the upcoming Inspire Manak Japan Tour and last year, Abhineet Sharan, reached the National Level for his innovative project.
The Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to work with dedication for the upcoming stages of the competition. He emphasized that the school provides every possible opportunity to explore the innate talents of the young minds who have the spark to bring transformational change and be the change makers of tomorrow.
