JNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his debut on Truth Social, the social media platform owned by Trump Media, on Monday. In his first post, Modi shared a picture with his “good friend,” former President Donald Trump, expressing excitement about joining the platform. He wrote, “Delighted to be on Truth Social! Looking forward to interacting with all the passionate voices here and engaging in meaningful conversations in the times to come.”
In his second post, the Prime Minister shared a link to his recent 3-hour interview with renowned podcaster Lex Fridman. Earlier, Trump had shared the same interview on his Truth Social account, prompting Modi to thank the US President. “Thank you, my friend, President Trump. I’ve covered a wide range of topics, including my life journey, India’s civilisational outlook, global issues and more,” he wrote.
During the podcast, Modi spoke highly of Trump, describing him as a “courageous man” whose “America First” approach resonates with his own “India First” ideology. Reflecting on the 2019 ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in Houston, Modi recalled a memorable moment when Trump, despite being the President of the United States, sat in the audience while Modi spoke on stage. The Prime Minister praised Trump’s humility and courage, noting that Trump agreed to walk around the stadium with him, despite the disruption it caused to his security detail.
Modi also praised Trump’s resilience, recalling how the President remained dedicated to his nation even after being shot during a recent campaign. “His unwavering dedication to America shows his ‘America First spirit,’ just as I believe in ‘India First,'” Modi said.
