Ranchi: The two-day Media Cup Badminton Tournament, held at the Rackets Campus of JSCI Stadium, concluded with exciting matches and strong performances from journalists. The event showcased the enthusiasm of Press Club members, who competed fiercely on the court.
The tournament began with an inaugural ceremony on the first day, where social worker Swami Devendra Prakash, Vinay Kumar, and former Ranchi Press Club president Rajesh Singh introduced the players. The closing ceremony and final match on the second day were attended by social worker Ajay Nath Shahdev as the chief guest, while senior journalist Vinay Kumar introduced the players.
In the singles final, Adil Hasan triumphed over Abhishek Sinha in a thrilling match, winning two consecutive games to claim the trophy. The doubles final saw Adil Hasan and Anand Mohan defeat the pair of Abhishek Sinha and Monu Kumar 2-1 to capture the championship.
During the prize distribution, Ajay Nath Shahdev presented trophies to the winners, and Vinay Verma awarded ear buds to both the champions and the runners-up. In his address, Shahdev emphasized the importance of sports for physical and mental well-being, encouraging everyone to incorporate sports into their lives. Vinay Kumar also praised the initiative by the Ranchi Press Club, encouraging the continuation of such events.
Press Club President Surendra Lal Soren thanked the organizing committee and members for their efforts in making the tournament a success. He also extended his best wishes to all participants. The tournament was supported by key members of the Press Club, including secretary Amarkant, Treasurer Kuber Singh, Joint Secretary Ratanlal, sports committee Convener Monu Kumar, and several other active members.
