Sindri: The two-day state-level semifinal round of the Idea Pitching Competition under IIC 7.0 kicked off today at BIT Sindri. Organized by Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi, the event features 105 innovative teams from across the state, showcasing their entrepreneurial ideas.
The inauguration began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, attended by dignitaries including Chief Patron Dr. D. K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of JUT Ranchi; Patron Professor (Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director of BIT Sindri; and Convener Professor Prakash Kumar, President of IIC 7.0, BIT Sindri.
Professor (Dr.) Pankaj Rai highlighted the importance of innovation in shaping the nation’s future, while Professor Prakash Kumar emphasized the distinction between academic projects and entrepreneurial ventures.
Guest of Honour Rajen Dasgupta, Innovation Manager at TexMin, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, encouraged participants to embrace creative problem-solving. Chief Guest Mr. Suraj Prakash, CEO of TexMin, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, praised the event for fostering young minds and impactful innovation.
The competition features 68 teams pitching on the first day and 37 teams on the second day.
Notable innovations include biodegradable sanitary pads from Re-Leaf and Petal Pads, solar-powered products from Women’s Polytechnic, Bokaro, and a UV filtration system from Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Jamshedpur. Mr. Dasgupta also offered funding and mentorship to startups like ARD Electricals and Re-Leaf.
The event underscores BIT Sindri’s commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, marking another step in the institute’s legacy of excellence.
