Dhanbad: BJP leader Sita Soren, daughter-in-law of Shibu Soren, narrowly escaped harm late Thursday night when her former personal assistant, Devashish Ghosh, attempted to attack her with a pistol at the Sonotel Hotel in Dhanbad’s Saraidhela area.
The incident occurred when Ghosh confronted Sita Soren in her hotel room. He allegedly brandished a pistol, but before he could fire, her quick-thinking bodyguard intervened, overpowering Ghosh.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after, led by Saraidhela Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nutan Modi, who arrested Ghosh and recovered the weapon from the room. Security around Sita Soren has since been heightened as investigations into the attack continue.
While the motive for the attack remains unclear, police are examining the circumstances leading up to the altercation, which reportedly stemmed from an undisclosed issue between the two. Sita Soren had traveled to Dhanbad earlier in the day to attend a wedding in Katras, Baghmara block, before returning to the hotel for the night, where the confrontation occurred.
Nutan Modi confirmed that Ghosh is being presented in court, with further details expected as the investigation unfolds.
