Bokaro: Rajesh Kumar Singh took over the charge of new Deputy Commissioner Bokaro from outgoing DC Mukesh Kumar on Wednesday. Talking to the media persons, Singh said, media plays a vital role in development. It works as a mirror for administration as well as for society too. So positive criticism of the media is always welcomed which in- need for inclusive growth, said Singh.
Rajesh, India’s first visually impaired IAS officer; cleared the Civil Services examination in the year 2006, but after a long legal battle and intervention of the Supreme Court, he was appointed as an IAS.
Replying to a question of media persons Singh said, “Working as an IAS, it needs vision and not eyesight.”
He assured, Bokaro will get a new identity. With speeding up the ongoing developmental works I will give a new dimension to growth, he said.
Rajesh, hails from Anisabad in Patna in Bihar, lost his sight at the age of six but did not lose sight of his aim to be an IAS officer.
On his inspirational and struggle filled journey, he has written a book titled—Putting the Eye in IAS, which reflects his life was released in 2016 by then Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan at New Delhi.
Rajesh even represented India at the Blind Cricket World Cup thrice.
