Bokaro: SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant, in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers India and the Indian Ceramic Society, is set to host a two-day International Conference on Refractories from April 12-13, 2024.
The conference, titled “REFIS-4.0”, will focus on the theme “Advances in Refractories in Iron and Steel Industry through Nanotechnology and Sustainable Solutions”.
The event aims to chart a roadmap for making India self-reliant in the refractory sector, as well as explore the construction of low-cost, high-quality refractories using Industry 4.0 technology.
The conference will be graced by several distinguished guests, including Atanu Bhowmik, Director-in-charge of Rourkela Steel Plant and Additional In-charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, who will serve as the chief guest.
Other notable attendees include Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Executive Director (Operations) of Bokaro Steel Plant, Dr. Chacko Jacob from IIT Kharagpur, and Dr. Deepak Jain, Director General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
VP Upadhyay, Chief General Manager (Refractories), will serve as the conference chairman. The event will see the participation of representatives from the refractory industry across the country.
The conference aims to facilitate in-depth discussions and brainstorming sessions on various aspects of the refractory sector, with the goal of preparing a comprehensive roadmap for the future.
