CCL Achieves Record Coal Production, Dispatch, Paving the Way for Sustainable Growth in FY 2024-25

Ranchi: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited based in Jharkhand, has achieved record-breaking coal production and dispatch in the financial year 2024-25. The company produced 87.5 million tonnes (MT) of coal, marking its highest-ever annual output.

In addition, CCL dispatched 85.9 MT, setting another historic milestone. These accomplishments reflect CCL’s continued commitment to powering India’s energy needs and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Key coal-producing regions such as Amrapali-Chandragupta, Barka Sayal, Magadh-Sanghamitra, and others contributed significantly to the record production and coal dispatch efforts, ensuring both high output and quality.

Environmental Responsibility and Sustainable Practices
CCL also prioritized environmental sustainability in FY 2024-25, focusing on afforestation and renewable energy projects. Notably, the company implemented the Miyawaki plantation technique in Rajrappa to enhance green cover and restore ecosystems in mining-affected areas. In line with its clean energy goals, CCL generated 287.9 lakh units of solar power, reducing CO₂ emissions by 20,153 tonnes.

The company operates 1.25 MW of rooftop solar capacity and 24 MW of ground-mounted solar power projects, with more solar initiatives underway. CCL aims to achieve net-zero electricity consumption by 2029-30, underscoring its commitment to a sustainable future.

Advancing Technological Innovation in Coal Handling
To further improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact, CCL is developing fully mechanized, closed-loop Coal Handling Plants (CHPs). These systems, including projects like Karo CHP and Konar CHP, reduce the need for road transport, cutting diesel consumption and dust emissions. This initiative aligns with CCL’s broader strategy of adopting advanced technologies for sustainable coal logistics.

Public Health and Community Development Initiatives
In a significant move for public healthcare, CCL is building a 200-bed Super Specialty Hospital in Ranchi, focusing on cardiology, pulmonology, and neurology. The facility, set to provide affordable care, is being developed in collaboration with the Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan.

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, CCL continues to make a positive impact in education, healthcare, sports, and women’s empowerment. The company offers free IIT coaching to students from marginalized communities and runs the Jharkhand Sports Promotion Society, training young athletes in various disciplines.

Additionally, CCL’s partnership with the Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust is improving health outcomes for children with congenital heart conditions, while its efforts in skill development have helped over 900 youth secure employment.

Commitment to Balanced Growth
Nilendu Kumar Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of CCL, emphasized the company’s dual focus on coal production and social development. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in achieving CCL’s record performance in 2024-25, underscoring the company’s role in ensuring India’s energy security and fostering inclusive development.

With its focus on innovation, sustainability, and community welfare, CCL continues to play a key role in India’s energy sector and the pursuit of a self-reliant nation.
