Ranchi: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) marked World Environment Day with a series of grand events from June 1 to June 5, 2024, aimed at raising environmental awareness. The celebrations commenced on June 1 with the inauguration of various competitions by Director Technical (Planning & Project) Satish Jha, involving around 200 children in activities such as painting, quizzes, slogans, essays, and poetry recitations. A quiz competition for employees was held on June 3, followed by the distribution of cotton fabric bags and fruit tree saplings on June 4.
The main event on June 5 featured flag hoisting and an oath-taking ceremony presided over by Chairman-cum-Managing Director Nilendu Kumar Singh.
The event was attended by key officials, including Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra, Director (Personnel) Harsh Nath Mishra, Director Technical (Operations) Harish Duhan, Director Technical (Planning & Projects) Satish Jha, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Pankaj Kumar, and Department Head (Environment) Raj Kumar.
During the ceremony, staff members took an oath to protect the environment, and the Directors along with the CVO planted saplings to promote environmental conservation. Winners of various events held in honor of Environment Day were awarded and encouraged to continue their efforts in safeguarding the environment.
Numerous saplings and jute bags were also distributed across the command regions, underscoring CCL’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
