Chandrapura Theater Group Captivates with Comedy Performance

Bokaro: The Dharohar Theater Group from Chandrapura brought a burst of laughter and insight to Hello Bachpan School on Thursday evening with their latest play, “Dushman alias Saiya Magan Pahalwani Mein.” Written by Dayashankar Prasad Sinha and directed by Sanjay Kumar, the production proved to be a hit with its engaging humor and thoughtful themes.

The play was officially opened by Neetu Singh, District Council Member of Bokaro, who attended as the chief guest. The performance, known for its sharp wit, delved into the life of a middle-class youth, Hikmat Singh, who becomes deeply involved in wrestling. Through a series of comedic and touching incidents, the drama explored themes of intelligence and personal challenges.

Pradeep Kumar took center stage as Hikmat Singh, supported by Santosh Kumar as Goli, Manoj Kumar as Mamu, Rinki Kumari as Maa, and Pinky Kumari as Leela. Their well-timed performances kept the audience entertained and engaged throughout the evening.

The production was brought to life with collaborative efforts from the team behind the scenes: Vikrant Paswan handled the lighting, Santosh and Mrityunjay Bhowmik managed makeup and costume design, and Mrityunjay Bhowmik also took charge of stage decoration. Md. Wahid provided the background music, while Shyam Krishna Khatri oversaw publicity and Neetu Kumari managed media relations. Stage management, led by Varsha Agrahari and Rupendra Vinod, with additional support from a dedicated crew, ensured a seamless and successful show.

“Dushman alias Saiya Magan Pahalwani Mein” centers on an old family rivalry where Hikmat Singh’s father desires his adversary to be as strong as his son. This drives Hikmat into a life of wrestling and celibacy, while his concerned mother and scheming uncle plot for him to marry Leela. The comedic twists and turns illustrate Hikmat’s journey towards understanding that true happiness comes from balancing one’s life rather than competing with an enemy.

Dharohar’s latest theatrical venture not only provided a hearty laugh but also offered a meaningful reflection, leaving the audience both entertained and contemplative.
