Chhattisgarh Journalist Murder: Heart Removed, 15 Head Fractures & Broken Neck; Accused Arrested

New Delhi: A chilling autopsy report has revealed the gruesome details of the murder of independent journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, whose body was discovered in a septic tank in Raipur on Friday.

According to medical findings, the 28-year-old journalist’s heart was removed, he sustained 15 fractures to his skull, and his neck was broken. The investigation has led to the arrest of contractor Suresh Chandrakar, who is believed to be responsible for the crime.

Mukesh, who had been missing since January 1, was found in a newly sealed septic tank located in the yard of the contractor. His body, swollen and badly injured, was identified through his clothing. The victim’s head and neck injuries were particularly severe, according to reports.

Police traced the victim’s last known location through his mobile phone and identified the site where the body was hidden. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to handle the case, arrested the prime suspect, Suresh Chandrakar, in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Reports suggest that the murder was motivated by revenge after Mukesh Chandrakar, known for his fearless investigative work, exposed alleged corruption linked to the contractor. Mukesh had been running a YouTube channel called Bastar Junction, where he often reported on issues affecting the Bastar region. His exposé of corruption in local projects had reportedly angered several powerful figures, including the suspect.

Mukesh had left his home on the morning of January 1, wearing casual clothes, but soon his phone was found switched off. When he failed to return, his brother, fellow journalist Yukesh Chandrakar, began searching for him at friends’ houses and around the city. After his efforts proved fruitless, Yukesh filed a missing person’s report, which eventually led to the discovery of Mukesh’s body.

The shocking murder has sent ripples through the local media community and raised serious concerns about the safety of journalists in the region.
