New Delhi: A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, until September 25 in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam. Chief Minister Kejriwal appeared via video conferencing from Tihar Jail before the Rouse Avenue Court as his previous custody period expired.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, presiding over the case, took note of the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and issued a production warrant for Kejriwal on September 11.
Earlier, the CBI had presented its supplementary charge sheet against Kejriwal and other individuals involved in the alleged corruption linked to the excise policy. The Supreme Court has yet to deliver its verdict on Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the CBI and seeking bail.
In a related development, AAP leader Durgesh Pathak was granted bail today by the Delhi Court in connection with the same case.
