JNS: The ongoing COVID-19 restrictions have been extended till 28 February. It stated in an order released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The MHA also asked the states not to let their guard down as cases decline, but new variants continue to emerge.
Over 22 lakhs active COVID cases have been reported in the country due to the current COVID wave, lead by the new variant Omicron.
“Though a majority of active cases are recovering fast and a low percentage of cases are in hospitals, it is still a matter of concern that 407 districts in 34 States and Union Territories are reporting a positivity rate of more than 10 per cent,” the order reveals.
Looking at the current trends of COVID virus, there is a need to exercise caution and vigilance. States were asked to observe all precautions and not let the guard down, it stated.
“Imposition and lifting of local restrictions should be dynamic and should be based on the case positivity and hospitalisation status at the local level,” the letter said.
