New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s last rites will take place tomorrow, with his final journey beginning at 9:30 AM from the Congress headquarters in New Delhi to Nigambodh Ghat for cremation. A state funeral will be held at 11:45 AM. His mortal remains will be taken to the Congress office in the morning, allowing the public and party workers to pay tribute.
The nation has declared seven days of state mourning, lasting until January 1. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast across the country and at Indian missions abroad. A half-day holiday will also be observed in all Central Government offices and CPSUs tomorrow.
The Union Cabinet expressed condolences, remembering Dr. Singh as an eminent statesman, renowned economist, and distinguished leader. A condolence resolution passed in his memory praised his contributions, particularly his role in India’s economic reforms as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996. The resolution also recognized his academic and public service legacy.
