JNS: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is poised to unveil the schedule for the General Elections 2024 today at 3 PM. The announcement will include the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections as well as some state assemblies.
As soon as the schedule is announced, the Model Code of Conduct will be enforced. This code consists of guidelines issued by the Election Commission regarding the behaviour of political parties, candidates, government officials, and the party in power during elections. It covers areas such as speeches, announcements, election manifestos, and general conduct.
The press conference to announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections will take place at 3 PM at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan. The Election Commission announced, “Press Conference by Election Commission to announce the schedule for general elections 2024 & some state assemblies will be held at 3 pm today ie Saturday, 16th March. It will live-streamed on the social media platforms of the ECI.”
The term of the current Lok Sabha ends on June 16, necessitating the constitution of a new House before that date.
