Fire Breaks Out at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, No Casualties Reported

Prayagraj: A fire broke out this evening at Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh Mela area in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, following the explosion of two gas cylinders inside a tent. The fire quickly spread to 18 nearby tents, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

Upon receiving news of the incident, fire services, along with teams from the NDRF and SDRF, rushed to the site and successfully brought the blaze under control. Fire trucks stationed at the venue as part of pre-emptive safety measures responded swiftly to the emergency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately spoke to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss the situation. The Chief Minister was briefed on the incident’s details and visited the site for an inspection. He directed officials to carry out relief and rescue operations without delay.

In response to the fire, the administration evacuated nearby tents to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The official X handle of the Maha Kumbh expressed condolences over the incident and assured that relief efforts were underway, while praying for the safety of all devotees.

The 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, has already attracted over 7.72 crore devotees. On Sunday alone, more than 46.95 lakh pilgrims took part in the holy dip, officials reported.
