Five-Day GIAN Course on Graph Coloring Trends Inaugurated at IIT-ISM Dhanbad

Dhanbad: The five-day GIAN course on “New Trends in Coloring in Graphs” was inaugurated today at the Executive Development Centre-Lounge, IIT-ISM Dhanbad. Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM, attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Scheduled from March 24-28, 2025, the course features Professor Riste Škrekovski from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, as the foreign faculty. Key speakers at the event included Professor S.P. Tiwari, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computing, and Professor Dinabandhu Pradhan, the course coordinator.

The program will cover topics such as vertex coloring, edge coloring, critical graphs, and classical theorems like the Four Color Theorem and Brooks’ Theorem. Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge on solving graph coloring problems, applying algorithms, and exploring real-world applications in scheduling, resource allocation, and network design.

Professor Pradhan emphasized that the course aims to provide students with a deep understanding of graph coloring and prepare them for advanced study and research in the field.
