Former Tamar MLA Raja Peter Joins JDU Amid Party Membership Expansion

New Delhi: Former Tamar MLA Raja Peter alias Gopalkrishna Patar has officially joined the Janata Dal (United) party, with his membership facilitated by the party’s working president, Sanjay Jha.

Along with Peter, Shailendra Mahato from Jamshedpur, who previously represented the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Sushil Singh from Dhanbad also joined JDU.

This is not his first foray into politics; Raja Peter, previously contested elections under the Bisra Vikas Samiti banner in 2005. In a notable upset during the 2008 by-election, he defeated the then Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Peter secured his position in the 2009 general assembly elections as a member of the Janata Dal (United) and served as the Excise and Liquor Prohibition Minister in the Jharkhand government in 2010.

Peter’s recent alignment with JDU marks a pivotal moment as the party continues to expand its presence in Jharkhand politics.
