Jharkhand government is mulling to set up a rail wheel factory in a joint venture with Indian Railway at Bokaro district. This factory would be proposed to come up near Damoderpur village near Bhojudih railway station in Chandankiyari about 35 kms from the district headquarter of Bokaro.
Land Reforms and Revenue, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Amar Buari visited the site on Sunday and said, “There is enough land. Shortly land will be handed over to erect a plant after the needful formalities. We are trying hard and very soon a rail wheel plant would come up in JV with State government and Indian Railway.”
“Earlier this plant was proposed at ‘Rukni’ in West Bengal but due to some unavoidable reasons now it has been shifted to Jharkhand. The Indian Railways has asked for land from the Government for is proposed unit and we are arranging land here. This proposed wheel plant would be the first railway industry in Jharkhand,” he added. Presently rail wheel factories are at Kapurthala in Punjab, Jamalpur and Chapra in Bihar.
With this wheel plant thousands of jobs opportunity direct and indirect would come up for the locals, Bauri said. He also said Chandankiyari is developing very fast, soon to be turn up as a commercial hub of the State. A mega food park involving a proposed cost of Rs 225 crore is very soon to come up in Chandankyari with more than ten thousand direct and about one lakhs indirect jobs employment opportunities, he said.
Notably, Triveni Group a real estate company is on move to set up a mega food park in Chandankyari block of Bokaro district. Triveni Group has a 0.5 million tonne integrated steel mill and captive power plant in Seraikela-Kharsawan and low-cost housing projects across the state. The Chandankyari venture would be second food processing park in Jharkhand, informed an official.
