Ranchi: In a recent address in Garhwa, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren firmly stated that neither the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) nor the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be implemented in the state, despite the BJP’s promises to include UCC in its election manifesto. Soren emphasized that only the Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) and the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act (SPT) would remain in effect.
Soren criticized the BJP, labeling them as “jumlabaaz,” and accused them of seeking to marginalize local tribal and indigenous populations. He claimed that the BJP’s actions demonstrate a disregard for the rights of these communities, focusing solely on the mineral wealth of Jharkhand. “The central government owes us ₹1.36 lakh crore for the mineral wealth of Jharkhand,” Soren said, adding that the BJP does not care about the people but rather their resources.
Addressing the audience at an election rally supporting JMM candidate and minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, Soren urged voters to remain cautious of the BJP’s intentions. He recounted the challenges faced by his government over the past five years, asserting that BJP leaders had falsely imprisoned him in an effort to undermine their work for the people.
Promising financial support to local families, Soren declared, “In the coming five years, we will ensure that every household receives ₹1 lakh.” He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the needs of mothers and sisters in the region, vowing to continue working for the welfare of the people of Jharkhand.
