Hemant Soren, Out on Bail, Sworn In as Jharkhand’s 13th Chief Minister

Ranchi: In a surprising turn of events, Hemant Soren, the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Thursday evening, despite facing legal proceedings related to a money laundering case tied to an alleged land scam.

Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren.

Soren’s ascension follows his unanimous election as the leader of the legislative party during a recent meeting of the INDIA alliance.

The transition to his leadership began swiftly after outgoing Chief Minister Champai Soren submitted his resignation to the Governor earlier in the day.

Originally slated for July 7, the swearing-in ceremony was moved up to accommodate immediate governance needs, with plans for cabinet expansion and further administrative appointments anticipated shortly thereafter.
