Ashis Sinha I JNS: Professor Prem Vrat, Chairman of Governing Board of IIT-ISM awarded LEAD, Indian Observer Post on the occasion of LEAD Global Conclave 2021 held at New Delhi on Friday.
The LEAD award, also known as The Great Indian Teachers Award (GITA)-2021, is given in honour of his extraordinary career in technical education spanning over five decades, informed Rajni Singh, Associate Dean, Media & Branding Cell of ISM.
As a distinguished researcher with over 50 years of teaching experience, Vrat got this honour in appreciation of his excellent contributions to the area and for leaving an indelible mark.
He has guided 47 Ph D students, 118 M.Tech and 65 B. Tech major projects on Industrial Application of Systems Approach and Management Science. He has published more than 502 research papers in reputed journals and proceedings of international and national conferences.
Professor Vrat also received Dr. M.C Puri Memorial Award of ORSI for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Operational Research in India and Lifetime Achievement Award-2017 by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering for Outstanding contributions to Industrial Engineering Profession the Society besides many other awards, she informed.
Besides Dr Vrat, others who have also bagged the award include Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi , Dr. K Kasturirangan, Dr. RA Mashelkar , Professor KK Agrawal- Chairman NBA, Professor Ranbir Singh, Founder Director NALSAR and founder VC NLU, informed Singh.
Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary-General of AIU presided over the ceremony, the former Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Justice Rakesh Tiwari was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
