IIT-ISM CII join hands to develop start-up ecosystem

JNS I Dhanbad: In a pivotal development, the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT-ISM), and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have joined forces to nurture a thriving startup ecosystem and contribute to national progress through innovation and incubation initiatives.

A high-level meeting took place yesterday evening in the conference room of IIT-ISM’s administrative building, where senior representatives from the CII, a prominent national trade and industry body, convened with the leadership of IIT-ISM.

Chaired by Professor JK Pattanayak, the Director of IIT-ISM, the meeting witnessed a delegation from CII led by its Ranchi-based leaders, Ujjal Chakraborti, Chairman of CII Jharkhand and Managing Director of Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing & Processing Company Private Limited (JCAPCPL), and Ranjot Singh, Vice-Chairman of CII Jharkhand and Managing Director of Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd, among other notable attendees.

During the discussions, both parties deliberated extensively on potential collaborations to build a sustainable future, enhance skill development, and formulate governance policies.

A significant point of emphasis was the joint promotion of an incubation and startup ecosystem centred around the eastern region of India. The outcome of the meeting was the decision to draft a comprehensive roadmap for collaboration and explore various avenues for partnership between CII and IIT-ISM on a broader scale.

It’s worth noting that CII, a non-governmental organization, is an industry-led and industry-managed entity comprising approximately 9,000 private and public members. With 65 offices, including 10 centres of excellence, eight of which are located abroad, CII has a profound impact on policy matters, engages with thought leaders, and enhances industry efficiency, competitiveness, and business prospects through a spectrum of specialized services and strategic global alliances.

The ISM contingent present at the meeting included Professor Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director; Professor Sagar Pal, Dean of Research & Development; Professor MK Singh, Dean of Student Welfare; Professor Rajni Singh, Dean of Media & Branding; Professor RM Bhattacharjee, Dean of International Relations and Alumni Affairs; Professor Saumya Singh of the Department of Management Studies, along with other key stakeholders, including Prabodh Pandey, the Registrar.

The collaboration between IIT (ISM) and CII holds immense promise for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in India’s eastern region, potentially paving the way for a dynamic and thriving startup ecosystem.
