Dhanbad: IIT-ISM launched a six-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Tuesday, focusing on “Crystal Growth, Semiconductor Processing, and Manufacturing Technologies.” The program, held at the Faculty Development Centre, aims to enhance educators’ knowledge and teaching efficiency in these critical technological fields.
The FDP commenced with an expert lecture by Prof. J Kumar from Anna University, Chennai, who shared insights on “Crystal Growth Techniques II: Epitaxial Growth.” This was followed by Prof. RR Sumathi, Deputy Head of the Department at Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung, Germany, who presented on “Crystal Growth Techniques I: Bulk Growth Methods.”
On the second day, Dr. Pratap Kumar Das, Principal Member of Technical Staff at AMD Bangalore, conducted a session on Semiconductor Technology, shedding light on semiconductor manufacturing, advanced water processing, and fabrication technologies.
Professor R Thangavel, Associate Professor at IIT-ISM and the coordinator of the program, highlighted the significance of the initiative. “The FDP is designed to equip participating educators with essential skills, enhancing their teaching capabilities,” he stated.
The program promises to provide valuable insights and hands-on experience, helping participants stay updated with the latest advancements in these evolving fields.
