New Delhi: India strongly rejected Pakistan’s accusations that it was behind the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stating that the world is aware of the true epicenter of global terrorism.
In a statement, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote: “We strongly reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan. The whole world knows where the epicenter of global terrorism lies.”
“Pakistan should look inwards instead of pointing fingers and shifting the blame for its own internal problems and failures on to others,” he said.
On Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office alleged that the insurgents involved in the hijacking were in direct contact with their handlers in Afghanistan throughout the 30-hour standoff. Pakistani security forces successfully eliminated all the hijackers and rescued the passengers. During the incident, 21 hostages and four security personnel were killed.
Shafqat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, also accused India of sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan and called for Afghanistan to cooperate in bringing those responsible for the attack to justice.
The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the hijacking, and Pakistan’s security forces reported killing 33 insurgents during the operation.
