New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed certainty that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure a third consecutive term in government.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at the BJP Headquarters, Modi credited the electorate’s unwavering trust in the BJP and NDA for the success in the polls, considering it a victory of faith in the Indian constitution and the principle of inclusive development, encapsulated in the mantra of “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas.”
Expressing gratitude towards his allies Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, Modi asserted his leadership in forming a coalition government of the NDA. However, despite Modi’s ambitious ‘400 paar’ (beyond 400) call, preliminary results suggest the NDA might fall short of that target, aiming instead for around 300 seats.
The BJP’s own tally stands at 240-plus, notably lower than the majority mark of 272. This decline is interpreted as a resurgence of the opposition, with the Congress expecting to substantially increase its seat count compared to 2019. Additionally, regional parties have performed exceptionally well in various states.
Acknowledging the efforts of BJP workers, Modi urged them to remain focused on the positives. He emphasized the historical significance of securing a third consecutive term, a feat not achieved since Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure.
While celebrating victories in states like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, Modi highlighted the BJP’s success in various assembly elections. The party’s performance in Odisha particularly stood out, with a sweeping victory in the assembly elections and a promising performance in the Lok Sabha polls.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi thanked the people for their support and assured them of continued efforts to fulfill their aspirations. He also commended the tireless dedication of BJP workers, underscoring their pivotal role in the party’s success.
Meanwhile, BJP President J.P. Nadda hailed the impending formation of the NDA government for the third consecutive term as a historic milestone in Indian politics. He criticized the opposition for its negative approach and lack of constructive contributions over the past five years.
Senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh were also present at the gathering, further underscoring the party’s unity and determination towards governance.
