Dhanbad: The Jharkhand High Court (HC) is set to open an extension counter in Dhanbad soon to facilitate the e-filing of cases.

Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dhanbad, Ram Sharma, announced this development on Saturday afternoon while discussing the court’s modernization efforts with the media.

Judge Sharma highlighted that the new extension counter will enable lawyers to file applications directly with the High Court from Dhanbad and argue their cases through the extension court.

Additionally, an e-service center has been established on the court premises, where all court case files are being digitized as part of the E-Court Services initiative. All court orders and decisions are uploaded online to provide plaintiffs and lawyers with up-to-date information on their cases.

In a significant move towards modernization and sustainability, the Civil Court in Dhanbad has installed a solar panel plant to ensure a continuous electricity supply. This initiative, which follows similar efforts in Khunti and Ramgarh, is part of a broader shift towards renewable energy in the region. The Energy Ministry has also installed a new 500 KVA transformer to support this green energy transition.

The Dhanbad court, which accommodates thousands of visitors daily, is now fully air-conditioned and equipped with various modern amenities. Among future plans, advocates in Dhanbad will soon be able to file and argue cases directly with the Jharkhand High Court from the local court premises.

Special provisions have been made to enhance accessibility for disabled individuals, senior citizens, and advocates. These include the installation of wheelchairs and lifts to ensure easy access to courtrooms. Separate seating arrangements have been made for litigants and witnesses under the POCSO Act, and new toilets have been constructed to cater to the needs of the disabled. The campus also features cold drinking water facilities.

For security purposes, entry to the court is restricted to a single main gate, where police personnel, equipped with modern tools, conduct thorough checks before allowing entry.
