Ranchi: The Jharkhand State Urdu Sikshak Sangh, led by Central General Secretary Amin Ahmed, has submitted a memorandum to the Joint Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department.
The association is calling for 10% reservation in promotions for Urdu teachers appointed in 1994, or alternatively, a priority listing based on appointment numbers similar to general teachers.
Amin Ahmed stated that in 1994, the Bihar Public Service Commission appointed 10% of general positions as Urdu teachers across Jharkhand. Citing a 2020 departmental directive, Ahmed argued that these teachers should receive 10% preference in promotions. The memorandum requests that Urdu teachers be considered as a distinct category in promotion lists and be posted exclusively in Urdu schools.
The memorandum, also sent to the Education Minister, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, and Director of Primary Education, was supported by Shahzad Anwar and Mohd. Fakhruddin, among others.
