JNS: The third day of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan National Competitions, held on November 4, 2023, witnessed a series of league and knockout stage matches in football, hockey, table tennis, and cricket across various age groups. Athletes from 25 divisions showcased their skills, engaging in fierce competition to secure victory for their respective divisions.
At the close of the league stage on the previous day, the Football Under-17 competition featured Dehradun division triumphing over Mumbai with an impressive score of 10-1, while Ernakulam outclassed Lucknow division with a dominant 6-0 victory. Meanwhile, Ranchi division edged out Bengaluru division with a close 2-1 win, and Varanasi secured a 1-0 win against Agra.
Hyderabad showcased their prowess with a 4-0 win over Mumbai, and Ernakulam continued their winning streak by defeating Ahmedabad division 2-0. Dehradun division maintained their strong performance, defeating Gurugram division 5-0. The Lucknow vs. Chennai division match ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
In the Hockey Under-17 League, Varanasi division defeated Patna division 5-1, while Chandigarh secured a commanding 14-1 victory over Hyderabad division. Gurugram division managed a 3-1 win against Varanasi, while Lucknow emerged victorious against Chennai with a score of 4-2. Ranchi division secured a narrow 3-2 win over Lucknow division. Bhopal dominated with a 7-1 victory over Mumbai, and Chandigarh achieved an impressive 14-0 win over Hyderabad division. Varanasi, Ranchi, Bhopal, and Chandigarh maintained their top positions in their respective pools.
In the Hockey Under-15 category, Hyderabad and Chennai played out a tight 1-1 draw, while Gurugram division defeated Patna division 5-0. Jaipur division showcased their strength with a 7-1 victory over Chandigarh division and an 8-0 win against Gurugram division. Lucknow division dominated Varanasi division with a resounding 16-1 victory, and Delhi division secured a 1-0 win against Ranchi. The match between Ranchi division and Bhopal division ended in a 1-1 draw. Jaipur, Lucknow, Delhi, and Mumbai divisions held the top positions in their respective pools, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the knockout stage.
In the Under-17 cricket competition, Mumbai secured a convincing 10-wicket victory over Jabalpur, and Dehradun achieved a 9-wicket win against Chennai. In a match where Bhuvneshwar batted first, they defeated Agra by 22 runs, but Lucknow emerged victorious with a net run rate advantage in a rain-interrupted match. Hyderabad division secured a 5-wicket victory over Guwahati division, and Jammu division triumphed over Varanasi division by 24 runs. Bengaluru secured a 4-wicket victory against Patna, and Kolkata defeated Chandigarh by 8 wickets.
Additionally, in the Under-14 table tennis (team) competitions held at Khelgaon, Kolkata emerged as the top team with a 2-1 victory over Ernakulam. In the Under-17 table tennis (team) competitions, Guwahati defeated Ahmedabad 2-1, and in the Under-19 (team) category, Kolkata clinched the top position with a 2-1 victory over Guwahati.
