Dhanbad: Lindsey Club and Library hosted a captivating cultural event titled “Matir Durga” in celebration of Mahalaya at Dhanbad on Wednesday evening. The program was inaugurated by BCCL CMD Sameeran Dutta and his wife, Milli Dutta, alongside special guests including Director Technical, BCCL M.K. Ramaiya, and his wife. The ceremonial lamp-lighting marked the event’s commencement.
The inauguration was attended by notable figures, including Lindsey Club President Amlendu Sinha, Secretary Salil Biswas, former Secretary Dr. Deepak Sen, and other distinguished guests.
“Matir Durga,” a poignant musical drama, depicted the essence of Durga Puja while addressing themes of women’s oppression and society’s resistance against such injustices. The narrative resonated deeply with current social issues, garnering appreciation from the chief guest, special guests, and the audience.
Featuring around seventy-five performers of all ages, the dance drama was a collaborative effort that highlighted the club’s commitment to cultural expression. In his address, President Amlendu Sinha stressed the importance of using such programs to reflect societal realities, while Secretary Salil Biswas extended heartfelt thanks to all artists for their contributions to the event’s success.
