Prayagraj: Over 2.33 crore devotees participated in the third Amrit Snan at the Sangam on Basant Panchami, marking a significant ritual in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela. This sacred bath, considered the most important event of the festival, followed the first two Amrit Snans on Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya.
The third Amrit Snan took place smoothly, thanks to meticulous planning and a “zero-error” approach by the state government. The ritual began with Saints and seers from 13 Akharas, followed by the devotees, as flower petals were showered upon them at the Triveni Sangam. To maintain order and avoid congestion, separate pathways were established for the entry and exit of pilgrims.
Security measures were robust, with surveillance provided by drones, helicopters, and CCTV cameras. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally monitored the security situation from a dedicated war room, receiving regular updates from the DGP and Home Secretary to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the event.
The Mahakumbh Mela, which began on January 13, has seen over 37 crore devotees visit the site for a holy dip, solidifying its status as the world’s largest spiritual gathering.
