Gaya: In a significant breakthrough, the Gaya police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have uncovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) manufacturing unit in a cave located within the Chakarbandha forest area under the Madanpur police station limits in Bihar. The discovery was made during an ongoing operation against Maoist groups, City SP Anand Kumar Kaushal confirmed on Wednesday.
The security forces, while conducting a search operation, unearthed what appeared to be a mini factory built inside the cave, where Maoists had been producing landmines, pressure IEDs, and other explosives. A large quantity of materials used in bomb-making, including equipment for creating tiffin bombs and pressure cookers, was recovered. City SP Kaushal stated that the operation marked a significant success in the fight against Naxalites in Gaya, which had been targeted for a potential attack similar to the recent attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh.
Among the recovered items were four cylinders of 5 kg, four cylinders of 2 kg, four pressure cookers of 12 kg, five pressure cookers of 10 kg, steel container of 10 kg, aluminium pan, weighing scale, 44 pieces of tiffin bomb making equipment, 20 pieces of tin cutter, 20 pieces of bit drill, chisel hammer,said City SP.
Apart from this, security forces have been recovered 60 pieces of aluminium foil, 84 pieces of steel container, hand drill machine, 3 kg plaster of Paris, wire, silk thread 110 pieces, 5 pieces of disposable syringe, soldering wrench, 132 pieces of iron pipe, methyl parathion polytox, hexa blade etc. It is believed that there was a plan to make deadly explosives like landmines, pressure IEDs on a large scale using these equipment.
The extensive search operation, which took place from 9:00 PM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday night in the Tarchuaan area of Chakarbandha in Dumriya block, resulted in the discovery of the largest cache of explosive-making materials found in a single location to date. Authorities are continuing their efforts to dismantle the Naxalite network in the region and ensure further security.
