Bokaro: The Ispatanchal Swadeshi Mela, organized by the Swadeshi Jagran Manch at Mazdoor Maidan in Sector 4, has witnessed a surge in interest for handicrafts, with people of all ages flocking to stalls offering unique items from Saharanpur (UP) and Gaya. Wooden toys, in particular, are a hit among children and adults alike, with many purchasing these traditional items for their families.
One of the highlights of the fair is the Ethnic Mithila Haat at stall number 23, which features stunning handmade Mithila art sarees, bags, and purses, alongside exquisite Mithila paintings. Ruchi Prerna, the operator of the stall and a Madhubani painting artist, mentioned that products adorned with Madhubani (Mithila) artwork, including sarees and suits, have been receiving immense appreciation from visitors.
In addition to the handicrafts, the fair also hosted a special cultural evening titled “Gyan, Dhyan, and Gaan Sandhya” on Wednesday.
The event featured an inspiring performance by the Art of Living, which captivated the audience. DDC Ram Narayan from Art of Living spoke about the organization’s mission to foster a stress-free, violence-free society, highlighting the positive impact of their principles in over 180 countries worldwide.
He emphasized that the techniques promoted by Art of Living are recognized by renowned institutions such as AIIMS, the World Psychiatric Organization, and the World Scientists Organization for their transformative power in improving both individual and social lives.
The Swadeshi Mela continues to offer a variety of colorful events and entertainment, ensuring that visitors have a memorable experience while enjoying the vibrant shopping opportunities at the fair. The event kicked off with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Art of Living teachers Deepak Kumar and Sandhya Devi, setting the tone for an enriching evening.
