New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was recently released on interim bail from Tihar jail, claimed regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal asserted that if the BJP emerges victorious in the elections, they will replace Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with a new leader.
During a visit to Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP, stating, “After winning elections, Narendra Modi ended the political careers of leaders such as Advani-ji (LK Advani), Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, Khattar-saab (ML Khattar), and Dr. Raman Singh.” He further added, “The next in line is Yogi Adityanath. I guarantee you he will be replaced as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister within two months if the BJP wins the elections.”
Kejriwal’s remarks come in the wake of his release from Tihar Jail on Friday evening, 50 days after his arrest on corruption charges related to the alleged liquor policy scam. He has been granted bail until June 1, which coincides with the final round of voting in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
On Friday, Kejriwal also lashed out at PM Modi and BJP, alleging that they will send all the opposition leaders to jail if they win again. He expressed his determination to confront authoritarianism, thanking the Supreme Court for granting him 21 days and pledged to tour the nation to halt what he called “tyranny,” considering every drop of his blood a sacrifice for the country’s welfare.
Kejriwal stated, “They will send opposition leaders to jail and will finish them. Our ministers, Hemant Soren (former Jharkhand CM), ministers of Mamata Banerjee’s party (Trinamool Congress) are in jail…If they (BJP) win again, then Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Uddhav Thackeray (UBT Chief) and other opposition leaders will all be in jail.”
He added, “No other party has been harassed to this extent in 75 years. The Prime Minister is saying that he is fighting corruption but all the thieves are in his party.”
