MSME Ministry to Set Up Extension Centre at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to Propel Industrial and Skill Development in Jharkhand

Dhanbad: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, is set to establish a state-of-the-art Extension Centre at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, aiming to accelerate industrial growth and skill development in Jharkhand. The announcement was made during a stakeholder meeting held at IIT (ISM)’s Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre.

The new centre, part of a national network of 100 such hubs, will offer advanced testing facilities, industrial advisory services, and training programs tailored to MSME needs. It is one of two centres proposed in Jharkhand, with the second planned for Ranchi.

The event featured key stakeholders including Shri Deepak Kumar, Assistant Director, MSME Ministry, industry leaders from the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority, and representatives from Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and IRCON – the technical consultant and nodal agency, respectively. Discussions centered on technical requirements and collaborative models, with input gathered for the draft Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Additionally, one of the 20 proposed national Technology Centres will be established in Bokaro, strengthening MSMEs through cutting-edge infrastructure. The initiative marks a significant push toward a robust, self-sustaining industrial ecosystem in the region.
