JNS: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) on Monday announced the four astronauts (including a woman) who will travle around the Moon on Artemis II, announced during an event in Houston, Texas, on Monday.
The American space agency’s goal is to create a permanent presence at the Moon for scientific and exploratory purposes, and Artemis II is the first crewed mission on the way to doing so.
The four-person crew, consisting of three Americans— Victor Glover, Christina Hammock Koch, Reid Wiseman and one Canadian, Jeremy Hansen, will embark on a 10-day trip to the Moon next year.
Koch and Glover will set history as the first woman and first black person, to go to the vicinity of the Moon while Hansen will be the first non-American to fly to the Moon.
Reid Wiseman will command, Victor Glover will pilot, Christina Koch and Canada’s Jeremy Hansen will be mission experts.
