National Mathematics Day Celebrated at IIT-ISM Dhanbad with Expert Lectures

Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad is hosting a two-day celebration to mark National Mathematics Day, honoring the 137th birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Organized by the Department of Mathematics & Computing, the event, taking place on December 22 and 23, features a series of insightful lectures by distinguished scholars from across India.

The event kicked off on Sunday, December 22, with two engaging talks. Professor Gadadhar Misra from IIT Gandhinagar and ISI Bangalore delivered a lecture on “Euler’s Product Formula and the Ramanujan Sum”, while Professor Jaydeb Sarkar from ISI Bangalore presented a thought-provoking session titled “How Google Googles?”

Looking ahead, the second day of the event promises more expert talks. Two online lectures will be delivered by prominent mathematicians: Professor Anoop Singh from IIT (BHU) will discuss “On the Moduli Space of Lie Algebroid Connections over a Compact Riemann Surface,” and Professor Amartya Kumar Dutta from ISI Kolkata will present on “Emergence of Algebra in Ancient India.”

The event is designed to celebrate the mathematical legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan, while inspiring attendees with stimulating discussions on various mathematical topics. It also underscores IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s commitment to advancing excellence in mathematical education and research.
