New Delhi Railway Station Implements New Rules for Maha Kumbh Passengers

New Delhi: In the wake of the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station last Saturday, which resulted in 18 deaths and several injuries, Delhi Police has introduced new measures for passengers heading to the Maha Kumbh. These rules aim to prevent overcrowding and ensure passenger safety. Failing to comply with these rules may result in being stopped from entering the station.

Key Rules for Passengers:

No Early Entry: To avoid overcrowding on the platforms, passengers arriving too early before their train’s departure will be required to wait outside the station.

Ticket Checking: Delhi Police, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), will conduct strict checks at all entry and exit points to monitor passenger movement and ensure safety.

Trains from Platform 16: All special trains to Prayagraj will depart from Platform 16, which can be accessed from multiple entry and exit points at ground level, eliminating the need for passengers to use the foot-over bridge.

Foot Over Bridge Restrictions: In an effort to reduce congestion, the police have banned unnecessary movement on the foot over bridge. This will prevent delays and overcrowding in the station.

Temporary Waiting Area: A temporary pandal and waiting area have been set up outside the station to accommodate the crowd, along with increased patrolling on all platforms to ensure passengers do not sit without a valid reason.

These measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and safe journey for all passengers travelling for the Maha Kumbh.
