Balochistan: Pakistan’s Balochistan province has recently reported 462 new cases of HIV/AIDS, bringing the total number of registered patients to 2,823. Dr. Zulfiqar Baloch, coordinator of the Balochistan AIDS Control Programme, highlighted that six districts in the region have been identified as high-risk areas for the disease.
Speaking on the occasion of World AIDS Day, Dr. Baloch stressed the urgent need for increased public awareness about HIV/AIDS. He also revealed that Quetta, the provincial capital, has the highest number of registered cases, followed by Turbat, Hub, Loralai, and Nasirabad.
Dr. Baloch further warned that the actual number of HIV/AIDS cases in the province could be much higher, potentially ranging between 7,000 to 9,000, underscoring the critical need for comprehensive awareness and prevention efforts.
