Bokaro: In a splendid display of skill and dedication, Devesh Kumar, Physical Education (PE) teacher at DPS Bokaro, has once again etched his name on the leaderboard of table tennis. With unwavering determination, he has secured his rightful place in the upcoming National Table Tennis Championship, slated for January 2024 in Chandigarh.
Devesh’s journey to this prestigious event was marked by a dazzling performance in the 23rd Jharkhand State Table Tennis Championship 2023, which was held in Dhanbad under the patronage of the Jharkhand State Table Tennis Association. In the Men’s team events, he shone brilliantly, earning a coveted gold medal, a testament to his exceptional prowess on the table.
Not content with just one laurel, Devesh’s remarkable talent also saw him clinch a bronze medal each in the men’s singles and doubles events, showcasing his versatility and expertise.
Amidst this triumphant wave of success, Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar extended heartfelt congratulations to Devesh, offering his best wishes for the upcoming national competition.
It is worth noting that Devesh had previously left his mark on the table tennis circuit, having secured a bronze medal in the Third Jharkhand State Ranking Table Tennis Championship held in Ranchi. Prior to this, he had displayed his remarkable skills by earning a bronze medal in the second Jharkhand State Ranking Table Tennis Championship, hosted in Jamshedpur.
Devesh, a 33-year-old maestro of the sport, now stands poised to bring his finest performance to the Nationals, determined to leave a lasting imprint on the championship. His illustrious journey includes participation in the National Games back in 2011, where he showcased his immense talent.
Over the years, he has represented Jharkhand at the national level on more than 15 occasions, solidifying his status as a table tennis luminary.
